Candidates

The procedure for selecting candidates for parliamentary and other elections shall be devised by the Pensioners Party Committee and will be varied as the occasion arises.

All Parliamentary candidates must be paid up members of the Party and on the Party's list of approved candidates. Potential candidates, prior to approval, must be paid up members of the Party.

Potential and approved candidates shall make full disclosure of any detail that may affect their suitability for selection as a candidate. This includes financial, personal, political and security aspects. Failure to provide all information may result in their termination from the party.

Potential candidates must in the first instance make written application as to their suitability and reasons why they wish to stand on behalf of the party. This application should form part of their c.v. which should also detail relative personal and business/career information. The provided information will be kept on record for future use. They must also declare which electoral seat they wish to be represented in. The written application must be supported by two independent references. These references must either have at least five years knowledge of the potential candidate and/or have prior knowledge of their present or previous occupations not extending prior ten years at the date of application.

Following this written application, the potential candidate may be interviewed by members of the committee.

Each approved candidate shall be expected to be self sufficient in funds and should be familiar of the rules and regulations as laid out by the Electoral Commission.

Applications are welcome from all age groups with a minimum age of 18 years and as long as you are fit and healthy no upper age limit.
