Defence

This party opposes continuous cuts in the armed forces. We cannot be reliant on our American or European partners, the world is a rapidly changing and in many countries a deteriorating environment. We must be self contained and fully equipped with manpower and the latest technology. There may come a time when we need rapid mobilisation at home or abroad.

We would consider bringing automatic enrolment for one year into one of the armed forces or home reserves for adults aged no later than when they are 21 years old. This enrolment will be allied with training for when the participants leave outside of the forces. They should be given the opportunity to operate overseas to allow them to broaden their horizons. This will also help to prevent alcohol and drug dependency due to the fact they will be monitored, lead a useful existence and help prevent anti-social behaviour.

If they are a conscientious objector, married with children or due to religious grounds then they can be located as part of a home reserve unit with a call back facility in case of rapid deployment.

This will give every able bodied man and woman the opportunity to learn a skill or profession for later in life. The older a person becomes, the less likely they would be on rapid call. We must maintain manpower to enable defence of the realm for periods of unrest and who would also be able to assist the police if they find they are undermanned. Our borders or points of entry must be tightened up to ensure only people of good intent are allowed to enter.

We must keep abreast with the latest technology and ensure our troops have first class equipment. We must locate ourselves around the world in friendly territories to ensure that monitoring of terrorist or other insurrection of democratic regions to ensure peace prevails.

Due to our multi-cultural society we have the opportunity to have dedicated forces of one denomination as well as that of mixed units so that peace can be maintained in specific areas of one race or faith.
