Transport

Some pensioners enjoy free bus/metro train transport in their locality, some have vouchers or half-price concessions, some get none of these at all! It is in the nations interest for pensioners to travel and maintain an active lifestyle. A uniform facility, nationwide (albeit without exacerbating the rush hour problem), should be available to pensioners at little or no cost.

There clearly is a great transport problem within this overcrowded island of ours. For several reasons petrol and diesel cars must be removed from the roads as soon as possible. The carbon emissions, fumes affecting the elderly and children's health, the constant queues and ever expansion of tarmac into our lives has now reached saturation point.

We propose a system of public transport that would deter financially the need to use one person to a car routine. We would like the use of electric vehicles to be accelerated as quickly as possible, irrespective of short distances and low speeds. We would like to introduce a system of overhead electric monorails nationwide which could follow the routes of the motorway system These monorails could double up to carry goods during the night. Out of town depot storage and car parks to facilitate these monorails would reduce the burden on our roads.

This obviously is not a cure all remedy but we must make a start somewhere rather than leave an ever increasing problem to reach grid lock.
